means grinding of a flow of (pre-crushed) particles between two rotating rolls, which are pressed to each-other by a hydraulic system, reaching a very high specific pressure in the grinding zone between the rolls and resulting in a size reduction by inter-particle compression within the particle bed.
The market launch of this technology in 1984 and the development and perfection of the system until today is very closely connected with KHD. The applications of the Roller Press in the cement industry both for upgrade and new installations are manifold like pre-grinding, semi-finish and finish grinding of raw materials, clinker and slag with production rates of more than 800 t/h raw meal and 400 t/h cement, with grinding force of 2 – 20 Mega-Newton and an installed power up to 4,000 kilowatt for both motors.

Roller Presses are characterized by high unit throughput, low specific energy input and generation of a high portion of fines. Besides these characteristics the reliable and efficient operation of the machine is ensured by proven design features, tailored material selection and control system:
No need to lift or dismantle the superstructure for repair or removal of the rolls.

Extended service life due to an ideal load distribution and the permission of inclined roll position, additionally optimized by grease-lubricated roller support.
Profiling the roller surface results in lower wear rates, excellent nipping properties, larger roller gap and low vibration. Two different concepts of wear protection for roller surfaces are offered for both types of rollers, shaft with shrunk-fit bandage or for single part rollers:

for optimal dearation of fine-sized material within the material entry zone.
Roller Presses are the main equipment of complete grinding systems combining several proven KHD products as world leading separator technologies with V-Separator and high efficient separator SEPMASTER, efficient product collection system with cyclone arrangement of low pressure drop and low energy consuming system fan.
