A Customer meet was organized in Syria to apprise customers about the new initiatives and technological innovations from KHD. The event marked its beginning with an evening reception followed by networking discussions with Dr. Stefan Seemann and Mr. Norbert Streit related to new customer requirements and latest technologies.

Officials from the GOC (General Organization for Cement) including their General Manager and technical expert were present at the customer meet. Mr. Abbas, the newly appointed CEO of GOC, Managing Director (Pharaon Group) and Project Directors graced the meet with their presence. Pharaon, an investment group owned by the Saudis has plants in Algeria and Pakistan. In Syria they have a management contract for Tartous Cement.

At the same time, Mr. Christian Wölfel and Mrs. Sana Stiphan discussed with Mr. Abbas, general possibilities for audits and different phases to improve the efficiency of the old shaft pre-heaters and to increase the capacity with a minimum of modifications (picture on the right).

 

The next day started with a brief welcome speech of Mr. Christian Wölfel followed by a general presentation of KHD included the new structure and modified strategies given by Mr. Volker Hellberg. The new strategy with a bigger focus on the customer services, explained in more detail by Christian Wölfel (after the presentation of Mr. Volker Hellberg) was especially appreciated by the auditorium and recognized as a suitable tool to improve the efficiency and capacities of the existing plants.

A detailed discussion followed the presentation of Dr. Stefan Seeman about the KHD Grinding and Separator technology, especially the roller press technology. The discussions led to the recognition that the finish grinding with a KHD Comflex system is a real alternative to the vertical mill. The possibility to increase the capacity of raw meal grinding and cement grinding by installing a roller press in front of the existing ball mills sounded interesting for the participants, as long term intention to increase the capacity and efficiency of the existing plants with shaft pre-heater which require bigger capacities for raw meal and cement grinding.

The possible improvement of shaft pre-heater was a key discussion point of the presentation of Mr. Norbert Streit. Presentation on pyro-process including the new PyroFloor cooler was another major highlight of this customer meet. The concept of cooler was more or less quite fresh for the participants as compared to shaft pre-heater technology. Discussions concluded highlighting the differences of KHD’s clinker cooler system and their benefits to its customers. PyroFloor cooler from KHD is a state of the art cooler offering huge benefits for the customer especially in maintenance and availability.

The final & concluding session was taken by Mr. Volker Hellberg and the complete team received a major positive feed-back from the audience with the request to repeat such meetings with another topic in the near future.
