KHD host ACCSESS consortium get-together in Cologne

On October 18th and 19th we hosted the international R&D consortium of the ACCSESS project in Cologne. As part of the ACCSESS project (Accsess – Providing access to cost-efficient, replicable, safe and flexible CCUS – projectaccsess.eu), solutions for the implementation of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage are being investigated and developed.

Carbon capture, carbon storage and a completely new clinker production concept in the focus

This technology, which is indispensable for the future, will also change our cement industry extensively and that is why we are taking part in this EU-funded development project. Our scope deals with the engineering feasibility study for the retrofitting of two carbon capture technologies in two European cement plants as well as with the concept development for a completely new clinker production technology, which is optimized as a new plant for operation with downstream carbon capture technology. The project includes other industrial sectors as well and deals with a number of important issues that go beyond pure technology development. Project completion is scheduled for mid-2025, with our contributions delivered by mid-2024.
