KHD to Install World’s First PYROCLON® Redox Calciner Technology

KHD has been awarded a contract with ASKALE Cimento to install the first ever PYROCLON® Redox Calciner and Burner at their Van plant in the East Anatolian region of Turkey. The technology is designed to allow plants to decrease their NOx emission and stay within the new limits without using secondary measures such as SNCR or SCR, making it the cleanest calciner technology in the world. Not having to use an SNCR or SCR system will also save ASKALE the additional
cost of investment, operation and maintenance of those units.

Depending on the operational results achieved by this pilot project, ASKALE will implement this new technology in their other clinker production lines, located in Gümüshane and Erzurum, which were also supplied by KHD.

KHD guaranteed ASKALE Cimento the legal NOx limits (<800 mgNO2/Nm3 dry @ 10% O2), but the expected result is a larger reduction potential compared to all other LowNOx calciner technologies in the market. Coupled with KHD’s proven pyro-processing technology, this project will combine cutting-edge low emissions technologies in the cement market, underlining KHD’s environmental technologies and leading market presence on innovative technologies in the cement industry for 160 years. Commissioning of the new system is scheduled for the end of 2017.
