History

150 years… enough time to develop a brand, but a long time to maintain its claim.

Strategic partnerships have always played a key role in KHD’s history. In 1972, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG merged their industrial facilities with those of Wedag Westfalia Dinnendahl Gröppel AG, to form KHD Industrieanlagen AG, a single dynamic and efficient company.

Since then:

  • Humboldt Wedag, Inc, the USA subsidiary, was founded in 1974.
  • In 1975, the industrial division changed its formal name to KHD Humboldt Wedag AG.
  • 1982: KHD enters the Indian cement Market, in collaboration with Cimmco Birla Ltd.
  • 1991: KHD begins work with ZAB GmbH in Dessau, Germany, culimnating in the acquisition of ZAB in 1993.
  • 2000: KHD establishes a cement division in New Delhi, India.
  • 2001: FAHR Beteiligungen AG acquires KHD Humboldt Wedag AG from Deutz AG – ending nearly 70 years as part of the Deutz Corporation.
  • Founded in 2011, the Asia Pacific Customer Service Center begins operating out of Beijing.
  • KHD opens its first Roller Refurbishment facility in 2012.
