Amreyah Cement and KHD: A partnership for sustainable pyroprocess innovation
We are pleased to spotlight our partner, Amreyah Cement, as we advance our shared vision of sustainable and efficient cement production.
Building on our established collaboration, we are proud to be working with Amreyah Cement on a significant pyroprocess upgrade at its Borg El Arab cement plant in Egypt. The project reflects the trust built over years of partnership between KHD and Amreyah Cement, and represents a key step in supporting Amreyah Cement’s long-term operational and sustainability goals.
“We view this partnership as a strategic enabler to strengthen our supply chain resilience and drive long-term mutual growth,” said Ehab Mesbah, Director Supply Chain and Operations Control, Amreyah Group.
“Our partnership is grounded in trust, shared goals, and a mutual commitment to sustainable, long-term success,” said Mohamed Rakha, Technical Advisor to the Amreyah Group CEO.
The scope of supply comprises:
- A Pyrorotor® combustion reactor for alternative fuel processing.
- A modernised preheater with high-efficiency cyclones and a new calciner within the existing structure.
- Pyrobox® burners for calciner firing and a new Pyrojet® main kiln burner.
- Installation of a new ID fan, tertiary air duct, and downcomer duct.
The Pyrorotor® integration enables the highest alternative fuel substitution rates, improved combustion efficiency, and enhanced process stability, using low-quality, locally available materials and virtually no preprocessing. Combined with the new preheater and calciner, the upgrade will significantly improve thermal performance, operational reliability, and overall plant efficiency.
“This project underscores our commitment to delivering high-performance, innovative pyroprocessing solutions, while highlighting the strength of our partnership with Amreyah Cement in Egypt,” said Farid Salehi, Senior Director Sales MENWA, KHD.
We look forward to the next chapter of this partnership and to achieving new milestones together.
