New contracts with UTCL

On February 11, 2021, UltraTech Cement Ltd. (UTCL), the third largest cement producer in the world and the largest manufacturer of grey cement, ready mix concrete (RMC) and white cement in India, signalled continuous trust in KHD technology by signing contracts for various clinkerization and grinding circuits for more than Euro 30 million with Humboldt Wedag India Private Limited (HW India).

UTCL intends to build three new 8000 tpd kiln lines and one new raw material grinding circuit. The contracts also include five cement grinding circuit upgrades at various locations in India. Since three-decades KHD is a trusted partner for upgrades, modernizations and new installations of cement plants for UTCL.

With the commissioning of the three new kiln lines, UTCL will add 8 MTPA of clinker production capacity and approx. 6.2 MTPA cement production capacity to its current consolidated cement production capacity of 117 MTPA. Even the COVID-19 pandemic did not majorly affect UTCL’s ongoing growth plans of establishing new clinkerization units and increasing production at existing locations to support its overall development plans for India.

Although the contracts have been signed on February 11, 2021, the commencement date for project execution was in January 2021. UTCL demands an extraordinary high effort and meticulous planning from KHD to meet the expectations of short delivery timelines, accurate engineering inputs, smooth execution and fast commissioning of all projects.

Despite the long-term partnership of UTCL and KHD and a multitude of projects, this particular package of projects is special. The entire process from first approach to the final negotiation was conducted without any physical meetings of both companies and their representatives. All discussions and interactions were held only on virtual platforms to adhere to given regulations and ensure the health and safety of all parties and people involved.

Am 11. Februar 2021 hat Ultratech Cement Ltd. (UTCL), der drittgrößte Zementproduzent der Welt und der größte Hersteller von Grauzement, Transportbeton und Weißzement in Indien, mit der Humboldt Wedag India Private Limited (HW India), Verträge über Ofenlinien und Mahlanlagen für mehr als 30 Mio. Euro unterzeichnet.
